About Me

I am a self-taught signwriter. After studying Furniture & Fine Arts
Conservation at University, I turned my hand to lettering, lining and coach painting.
This began as a hobby (doing small jobs for family and friends) which sat hand in hand with my interests in Steam power and our industrial heritage. 

After several years as an engineering technician in the heritage industry, I decided to formalise my signwriting learning by attending several of Joby Carter’s signwriting courses, learning proper letter forms and painting techniques. I am also competent at Gilding, a skill learnt from my time at University.
I am now experienced in painting vintage style signs, vehicles, canal boats and steam engines (Rail, Road and Stationary). Please visit the Gallery section of this website to see examples of my work.
